Industrial Research and Corvon are collaborating in the development of an
algorithm to support companies in the food and grocery packaging industry
with sophisticated sampling methodologies. This statistical sampling algorithm
has been designed to enable manufacturers, packers and retailers better manage
their packaging processes, and achieve their level of confidence in the correct
measurement of the contents of the packages they manufacture, package or sell.
This algorithm is consistent with and complements the principles of the statistical
methodologies in the Average Quantity System(AQS) for the measurement of pre-packed articles.
AQS was introduced in to Trade Measurement legislation in New Zealand during 2001,
and is proposed to be introduced in to Australia's Trade Measurement legislation by
the end of 2004.
